Take a look at the first trailer for Ridley Scott's upcoming film "The Last Duel."
As many of you may know, Sir Ridley Scott earned his reputation with a picture about duels in France, and now, 40 years later, he's returning to the land of champagne and cheese for a story about — you got it — duels (seriously, if you haven't watched The Duelists, you should). The Last Duel is a major picture for Scott and his two protagonists, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who co-wrote the screenplay with Nicole Holofcener. It was originally slated for release in 2020. It'll be their first since Good Will Hunting, so expect a riot in Boston, like they did when The Town was released. But, returning to the topic at hand — The first trailer for the film was released earlier this week by 20th Century Studios, and it looks fantastic.
Take a look at this:
Here's A Synopsis
“Set in the midst of the Hundred Years War, the historical epic is a dramatic and thought-provoking drama that tackles the omnipresent power of men, the fragility of justice, and the bravery and courage of one woman ready to stand alone in the service of truth. Based on true events, the film dispels long-held myths about France's last sanctioned duel, which pitted two friends who became fierce enemies, Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris. Carrouges is a well-liked knight who is recognized for his bravery and combat prowess. Le Gris is a Norman squire whose wit and eloquence make him one of the court's most respected nobles. When Marguerite Carrouges is violently assaulted by Le Gris, a claim he denies, she refuses to remain silent, stepping forward to denounce her assailant, an act of bravery and defiance that puts her life in danger. The subsequent battle trial, a torturous death duel, leaves the destiny of all three in God's hands.”
The Last Duel will be released in theatres on October 15, approximately a month and a week before House of Gucci spoils everyone's Thanksgiving dinner conversation.
