Cancer has been a fight for Bollywood celebrities who have had to deal with self- and secondary pressures that come with being in entertainment.
While some succumbed to the cancer, others rose to become heroes, inspiring us to continue on the battleground of life and triumph.
Here are 9 Bollywood celebrities who have been suffered from old age, ranging from survivors to those who have succumbed to the disease.
Sanjay Dutt - Lung Cancer
On Tuesday, it was announced that Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
On Tuesday night, trade analyst and film industry insider Komal Nahta verified the story.
"Lung cancer has been diagnosed in Sanjay Dutt. Let us all wish for his quick recovery "Nahta retweeted.
Dutt is expected to go to the United States for treatment shortly, according to sources.
As word circulated that the 61-year-old actor may be suffering from cancer, Dutt took to social media to encourage fans not to worry or speculate.
"Hello there, buddies! I'm taking a vacation from work to receive medical attention. My family and friends are by my side, and I beg my well-wishers not to be concerned or speculate unduly. I shall return soon, with your love and best wishes "He sent out a tweet.
Rishi Kapoor - Leukemia
In 2018, Rishi Kapoor, a veteran actor, was diagnosed with leukaemia, a kind of blood cancer. In 2019, he came home after receiving therapy in New York. He did, however, pass away on April 30, 2020.
Rakesh Roshan- Squamous cell carcinoma
Rakesh Roshan, an actor and filmmaker, has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a kind of throat cancer. Sunaina Roshan, Hrithik's sister, is a cancer survivor in the family. She battled cervical cancer and beat it. Rakesh Roshan is recognised for directing films such as "Kishen Kanhaiya," "Karan Arjun," "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai," "Koi... Mil Gaya," and the superhero picture series "Krrish."
Sonali Bendre- Metastatic Cancer
Sonali Bendre, a Bollywood actress, was recently diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Bendre, who has appeared in films like as Hum Saath Saath Hain, Sarfarosh, and Kal Ho Na Ho, posted an emotional message on Twitter. She had treatment in New York.
Irrfan Khan- Neuroendocrine Cancer
Irrfan Khan said in 2018 that he had been diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer.
Fans were shocked by the news, but the 'Madari' actor remained composed, saying, "It's been quite some time since I was diagnosed with a high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma." Manisha Koirala- Ovarian Cancer
Manisha Koirala is a stunning Nepali actress who has starred in films such as Dil Se, Bombay, and Lajja, to mention a few. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 42 and had treatment in New York. She was confirmed cancer-free in 2015 after many surgeries and chemotherapies. Manisha triumphed against her disease and emerged as a great hero.
Anurag Basu- Blood Cancer
In 2004, the ace Bollywood director, who has directed films such as Gangster, Life in a Metro, and Barfi, was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukaemia (a kind of blood cancer). Although the doctors handed him a two-month sentence, Basu's spirit was not broken and he recovered.
Lisa Ray- Blood Cancer
The actor, who was born in India, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2009. (another type of blood cancer). Ray avoided all forms of public attention and fought her sickness for nearly a year, eventually triumphing. She announced publicly in 2010 that she had a full stem cell replacement and was cancer-free, but that she was not completely healed because this condition is treatable but not curable.
Mumtaz- Breast Cancer
With her beauty and captivating performances in films like Do Raaste, Chor Machaye Shor, Aag, Khilona, Aadmi aur Insaan, Upaasna, and others, this evergreen Bollywood actress has captured many hearts. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 54. She fought the sickness for 11 years, ensuring that it did not overtake her. She was also included in UniGlobe Entertainment's '1 Minute' documentary about cancer survival.
