Before 2014, only die-hard comic book enthusiasts had heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a late 1960s comic book team. Today, owing to James Gunn's blockbuster Marvel Studios adaptations, Star-Lord, Groot, Gamora, and a talking Raccoon named Rocket are household names.
Nathan Fillion, who will be featured in his old buddy James Gunn's upcoming Warner Bros. film The Suicide Squad this weekend in cinemas and on HBO Max, says viewers have come to trust the writer/director.
“Hey folks, I received Guardians of the Galaxy!” he said. ‘I despised that comic,' I replied. That was the worst comedy I've ever seen.' ‘I know,' he says. I know exactly what I'm going to do with it. It’s going to be amazing."”
