Britney Spears said in a lengthy Instagram post on Saturday that she will not perform "on any stages anytime soon" as long as her father has control of her conservatorship.

"This conservatorship murdered my dreams... therefore all I have now is hope, and hope is the only thing in the world that is incredibly difficult to kill... yet people still try," Spears said, adding that her "so-called support system" had "hurt me terribly."

In addition to stating that she would not perform until her father, James "Jamie" Spears, handles "what I wear, say, do, or think," Britney also appeared to take issue with her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, playing one of Britney's songs at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards as part of a tribute.

Representatives for Britney Spears, Jamie Spears, and Jamie Lynn Spears have been contacted by USA TODAY for comment.

Britney Spears was granted the right to pick her own attorney by a probate judge on Wednesday, the first major development in her case since she went public with her dissatisfaction with the "abusive" conservatorship that governs her life last month.

Spears' plea to engage Mathew Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor, to defend her in her ongoing battle to be released from her 13-year conservatorship, in which she has little control over her finances or major life decisions, was approved by Judge Brenda Penny.

Spears, 39, testified for approximately 15 minutes and grew upset during the hearing, stating she wants a "probe" into the alleged assault.

She also stated that she wants her father removed as a co-conservator and that she will not submit to any further medical evaluations, which she referred to as "dumb mental exams."

"At this time, I'm not willing to sit with anyone to be examined," she told the judge. "I want to file a report of abuse." Instead of looking into my capacity, I'd want to look into my father."

The pop star stated in an Instagram post that she would "much rather share footage" of herself dancing in her homeroom online than "onstage in Vegas."

"I'm not going to be performing on any stages anytime soon if my father is in charge of what I wear, say, do, or think!!!! That's what I've been doing for the past 13 years "she penned "I'm not putting on heavy makeup and trying again and again on stage and not being able to perform the real deal with remixes of my songs for years and asking to include my new music in my show for MY fans... so I resigned!!!"

In a letter to Spears' conservators earlier this month, her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, allegedly announced his resignation, citing the pop icon's intention to "fully retire" from music.

Rudolph informed her father and Montgomery that he was quitting because he "got aware" of Britney's dissatisfaction with the conservatorship and her unwillingness to perform.

Deadline and The Wrap both published the letter. In it, Rudolph claims that Britney Spears told him in 2019 that she planned to take an "indefinite work break," and that she no longer needs the services of a manager now that she has reaffirmed her decision.

Spears' Las Vegas residency was unexpectedly canceled in January 2019 due to her father's health concerns. Since then, she hasn't performed.

She released a deluxe edition of her 2016 album "Glory" last year, which includes a new track with the Backstreet Boys.
