Following Amber Heard's court statement, in which she identified Kate Moss, the British supermodel is due to testify in the Johnny Depp defamation case.
Heard alluded to a previous incident in which she said Depp was aggressive towards Moss when the two were dating in the 1990s when testifying in court.
The Aquaman actor told the court that she "thinking about Kate Moss and stairs" when she and Depp got into a quarrel.
The defamation case brought by Depp against ex-wife Heard in Fairfax County District Court has resumed following a one-week hiatus.
Kate Moss, who is she?
Kate Moss is a famous British supermodel from the 1990s. Linda Rosina Moss (née Shepherd) and Peter Edward Moss had their first child on January 16, 1974.
Moss began modelling at the age of 14 in 1988 and quickly rose to become one of the world's most famous models.
She is well recognised for her role in the "heroin chic" fashion movement of the 1990s, which was defined by pale complexion, dark under eyes, an emaciated body, and androgynous features. Gia Carangi, an American supermodel, is credited with creating the style.
Moss has stated that she has "never used heroin," despite becoming a poster girl for "heroin chic" in her early career.
"I had never even tried heroin - it had nothing to do with me at all," Moss told Vanity Fair in 2012. [British photographer Corinne Day] - she wasn't on heroin, but she adored that Lou Reed song, and the entire glamorization of the squat, white-and-black, austere and skinny, and females with dark eyes.
"She adored that expression. I was skinny, but it was due to the fact that I was doing concerts and worked really hard."
Moss has collaborated with Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Vogue, and Vanity Fair during her career.
What did Amber Heard say about her in court?
During her current defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, he heard Moss' name uttered.
Heard mentioned one of her prior accusations against Depp during her evidence, in which she accused him of shoving Moss when they were dating in the 1990s.
Heard said that Depp shoved Moss down a flight of stairs during Depp's 2020 libel trial against the Sun.
"I remembered information I had heard [that] he shoved a past girlfriend - I believe it was Kate Moss - down the stairs," she stated at the time.
"I had heard this rumour from two different sources, and it was still vivid in my memory."
In the 2022 trial, Heard brought up Moss again while discussing how she punched Depp in the face for the first time in a 2015 altercation at the top of a stairwell in Los Angeles in the company of her sister.
"Whitney, my sister, suddenly inserted herself between Johnny and me," she explained.
"She put herself into the firing line. She appeared out of nowhere and began pleading with Johnny to stop. Johnny strikes at her with her back to the stairwell."
"I don't hesitate," Heard added. I am not patient. I swiped at him because I immediately thought of Kate Moss and the stairs."
Moss has not replied to Heard's allegations, either when they were initially raised in 2020 or when Heard brought it up again on Thursday (5 May).
Kate Moss and Johnny Depp: What Happened?
Moss dated Depp from 1994 to 1997 and has never publicly accused him of violent behaviour throughout their time together.
Moss and Depp began dating in 1994, when Moss was 20 and Depp was 31.
Depp was arrested in New York City in 1994 after reportedly destroying his hotel room at The Mark Hotel, where he was staying with Moss, prior to the two splitting up in 1997.
The accusations against Depp were dismissed when he agreed to pay $9,767 for the damage. Moss was unharmed.
"There was glass all throughout the house and furniture upside down and shattered table legs," police officer Eileen Perez told news outlets at the time.
"I have never gotten so emotional for a lady before," Depp told Hello Magazine following their breakup in 1998. I was very foolish because our relationship had so much going for it.
"I had to accept responsibility for what occurred because I was tough to get along with, I allowed my work get in the way, and I didn't give her the attention she deserved."
"I trusted whatever he said." He'd tell me what I do if I asked, "What do I do?" That's what I missed when I moved away.
"I had completely lost my sense of who I could trust. Years and years of sobbing were a nightmare. Those tears!"
Moss claimed in her 2012 book Kate: The Kate Moss Book that she felt "fortunate" to have been in a relationship with Depp.
"He taught me a lot about fame," she wrote. "Never complain, never explain," he said. That's why I avoid social media sites like Twitter.
"I don't want people to always know what's true, and that's what keeps the mystery alive."
Will Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's trial see Kate Moss testify?
Moss is expected to testify in the defamation lawsuit and will appear in court by video link on Wednesday, according to a source close to Depp who spoke to the PA news agency (25 May).
Depp's attorney Ben Chew was allegedly spotted throwing a joyful fist pump after Heard referenced Moss in her evidence, implying that Moss' involvement may assist Depp in some manner.
"Amber referenced an ex of Johnny's that she plainly believed was not supportive of him, which couldn't be further from the truth," a source told the New York Post.
