The harassment lawsuit filed by Britt McHenry against Fox News and her former co-host Tyrus was voluntarily dropped.

The harassment lawsuit filed by Britt McHenry against Fox News and her former co-host Tyrus was voluntarily dropped.

The parties involved have voluntarily dropped Britt McHenry's sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News and George "Tyrus" Murdoch.

"I'm extremely proud to have had to fight for my rights, and I hope that I've inspired other women to do the same," McHenry said in a statement to USA TODAY. "Although I completely stand by the veracity of my claims, I am relieved to be able to go on with my career and put this matter behind me."

McHenry's resignation from Fox News was also confirmed by the cable news network.
"While we are sure that we would have triumphed in the case," Fox News stated in a statement, "we are glad that we have been able to conclude this matter without further litigation."

According to her complaint, the network undertook a "fake inquiry" into her accusations, and its counsel provided "fraudulent" images of messages doctored by Murdoch to make it appear she was sexually explicit with him. McHenry announced she had a brain tumour on Twitter two months after filing her case. In March 2020, she had surgery to remove the tumour.

According to records filed in New York district court on Monday, attorneys for Fox, McHenry, and Murdoch agreed to drop the December 2019 lawsuit in which McHenry accused Murdoch, now a contributor on Fox News' late-night show "Gutfeld!" of sexual harassment.

From December 2018 until February 2019, Murdoch presented "Un-PC" alongside McHenry on Fox Nation, the subscription-based streaming spin-off of Fox News. In addition to claiming that Murdoch harassed her, McHenry alleged in her complaint that Fox retaliated against her after she made her allegations.

In a statement to USA TODAY, Murdoch's lawyer, Tom Clare, said his client is "pleased that the parties have achieved a settlement in which the allegations against him will be dismissed with prejudice."

"Tyrus continues to contest and refute the claims brought against him in the case, and will not be making any financial contributions in accordance with that perspective," Clare continued.

Among the defendants in McHenry's complaint were Fox News Network, Fox Entertainment Group, News Corp., Fox Corp., and Rupert Murdoch. Gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation, as well as the deliberate infliction of mental distress, were among her claims.

In a statement at the time, Fox News dismissed McHenry's complaint, saying the corporation had thoroughly examined her claims and taken the necessary action. Murdoch's lawyer disputed the accusations and indicated he would seek defamation counterclaims.

McHenry said in the lawsuit that while they worked together, Murdoch sent her sexually graphic text messages and that her complaints about the harassment were disregarded.

McHenry also claimed that Fox News retaliated against her by denying her career prospects as a result of her criticism of Murdoch.
