Even Bella Hadid has fashion regrets.
The 24-year-old supermodel recently sat down with Vogue to discuss 15 of her most iconic looks from over the years — including the plunging, slit-up-to-there red gown she wore on the 2016 Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
“I kind of get embarrassed by this moment still,” Hadid said. “Even though the dress is gorgeous, it just doesn’t feel so much like me.”
The catwalkers Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown was slashed all the way up to her waist to reveal miles of the leg, while the barely-there halter neckline and backless silhouette made for plenty of sideboobs.
“I was nervous in this dress,” Hadid added. “I look very sexual … [and] I was still nervous about cameras and nervous about having a lot of makeup on and nervous about this slit.”
Miraculously, she was able to avoid a major wardrobe malfunction. “Thank God,” she recalled. “I think maybe there was one little slip that happened.”
Hadid also joked that the dress’ outing marked the debut of her red carpet alter ego, quipping, “That’s my alter ego, that’s Belinda. I’m just so the opposite of her.”
It seems the model’s built up plenty of fashion confidence in the years since; in June, she returned to Cannes in a stunning Schiaparelli Haute Couture look comprised of a bare-chested black gown and a stunning gold necklace shaped like human lungs.
