The director of Free Guy wants to cast Ryan Reynolds in sequels to Minceraft and Call of Duty.

Free Guy, Ryan Reynolds' forthcoming comedy, won't hit theatres until August 13, but that hasn't prevented director Shawn Levy from making preparations for a sequel, which he hopes will feature Minecraft and Call of Duty.

In an interview with Gamespot, Levy discussed the various future narratives that Reynolds' NPC protagonist character may enter after his first appearance. If Reynolds' character, Guy (as played by Reynolds), were to return for Free Guy 2, the Canadian filmmaker has a couple other ideas in mind for him.

"I'd love to see him in Call of Duty," Levy expressed his desire to see him in the game. "In terms of comedy and action, I feel that the options, both comic and otherwise, are almost limitless. It's a lot of fun to consider." He also stated that he would want to see the NPC protagonist in a Minecraft crossover. "I'd be lying if I said we haven't begun talking about some of those things," he said.

While putting Reynolds' character into a warzone seems entertaining, we don't believe he'd have a chance if Captain Price got his hands on him. In reality, the bank teller-turned-hero could be a better match for Minecraft...that is if he is able to survive the first night!

In another part of the interview, Levy discussed his expectations for a possible sequel, saying that it would be fascinating to see the character experience the many world-building elements that are so popular in video game culture.

"In the realm of video games and video game culture, you and I are well aware of the wide spectrum of world-building. So I'd want to meet him, and perhaps even bounce from one to the next." According to Levy. With world-hopping in mind, perhaps the filmmaker might look to Insomniac's upcoming Ratchet and Clank game for inspiration - but a Gadgetron Rift Inducer in the wrong hands could spell tragedy.

With Free Guy's future unknown, Levy was eager to rein in his narrative dreams for the future "I haven't started counting chickens yet. We need people to turn up, and we need people to help Free Guy become a success "he stated

In other Free Guy news, Ryan Reynolds just revealed a trailer for the film that includes a reference to one of his favourite characters, Deadpool. The teaser, in typical Deadpool fashion, blurs the lines between acting and marketing by including a very swole Reynolds explaining his 'life' as an actor, the role of DUDE in the picture, and how he can't fit into the Deadpool costume anymore - spoiler alert, it's all a bit strange.
