Kathy Griffin is keeping her spirits up after undergoing lung cancer surgery, even after her husband had a medical crisis of his own.
After having surgery to remove half of her left lung last Monday, the comedian, 60, began sending video updates with followers throughout the weekend. Kathy Griffin couldn't stop laughing when recounting a circumstance that most people wouldn't find amusing in her most recent article.
"Yesterday I was in bed and I heard this strange noise that I couldn't figure out what it was," Griffin stated in an Instagram video posted on Sunday. "After a time, maybe a minute, I realize it's my poor husband shouting my name in a strange voice from the kitchen because he was making his lunch and he sliced his freaking hand open. Like, bad."
Griffin couldn't stop laughing as Kathy Griffin told the story because, well, Kathy Griffin obviously wasn't much help because Kathy Griffin was still recovering from surgery.
"If he's asking for me, for my assistance, it must be awful, since I can't do anything," Kathy Griffin chuckled. "I'm going to hell because I laughed." "I'm on my way to hell in a handbasket."
Griffin got out of bed despite being "barely able to walk" to assist her husband, Randy Bick, who Kathy Griffin discovered in the kitchen with his hand "bleeding like in a movie." As mayhem occurred, they dialled 911.
"If you had have seen me attempt to aid him while he's bleeding and changing towels and the dogs are going nuts, and then 911 comes and they send a full fire truck, which is great and I'm grateful," Kathy Griffin continued, noting that the emergency left her at home by herself.
"And I'm hardly functional," Kathy Griffin said. "Eventually, my husband returned, and he is now OK, but we simply had to laugh at everything."
Kathy Griffin spokesperson Alex Spieller told USA TODAY last Monday that the comedian was recovering after the operation "went well" after Kathy Griffin revealed last week that Kathy Griffin had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Griffin announced the news on social media earlier in the day, adding that Kathy Griffin has never smoked.
“I have to tell you something. I'm a cancer patient. Kathy Griffin added, "I'm going to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed." “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!”
