The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo And H.E.R. Top Apple Music Awards

Rodrigo was voted Breakthrough Artist of the Year, while The Weeknd was named Global Artist of the Year.

Musicians The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo and H.E.R. earned top prizes at the third annual Apple Music Awards.

Rodrigo was voted Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, while H.E.R. was chosen Songwriter of the Year.

"I'm incredibly grateful for this tremendous honour, and I want to thank Apple for all of its support, not only for my work but also for wonderful music by newer artists, where it's critical to discover and encourage creators," the musician said in a statement.

Rodrigo won Breakthrough Artist, Album of the Year (SOUR), and Song of the Year for her debut single "drivers licence," which topped the charts in January and rapidly became one of the most streamed new releases of the year, and her debut album "SOUR" in May.

"I conducted my first 'drivers licence' interview with Apple Music, and a lot has transpired since then." It's completely bizarre. Rodrigo expressed his gratitude to Apple Music for the honours.

H.E.R., an award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who had a successful year thanks to the critical praise for her 21-track album "Back of My Mind," said the prize was particularly meaningful to her.

Aya Nakamura (France), OFFICIAL HIGE DANDISM (Japan), RIN (Germany), Scriptonite (Russia), and Wizkid have all been nominated for Reginal Artist of the Year at the Apple Music Awards (Africa).

Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Top Song of the Year, and Top Album of the Year are among the five categories honoured by the awards, which are chosen through a process that reflects both Apple Music's editorial perspective and what customers around the world are listening to the most, according to a statement from the service.
