Lil Uzi Vert recently announced that he was 26 years old, not 27 years old, after discovering his birth certificate. Throughout this, fans wondered if the rapper would join the 27 club.

The rapper's age became a major topic of debate as viewers discovered previous recordings claiming Vert would die before he turned 27. This comes after he celebrated his birthday on July 31st. Fans believed the rapper would turn 27 this year. However, in a tweet, Vert stated that he is still just 26 years old.

RUMORS OF LIL UZI VERT'S DEATH WERE EXPLORED

The social internet has been inundated with videos claiming that the rapper would die at the age of 27. One of the reasons for this is that Vert made a remark in 2016 that convinced everyone that he would follow those who were members of the 27 Club.

Vert states in the video, "At the age of 27, I shall exit this earth."

This segment of his interview has since been utilized in a number of different productions. At the same time, when it was reported that the rapper received a diamond implant on his forehead while risking his life, fans were sure he was genuine.

With everything falling into place, supporters assumed Vert was serious during the interview.

RAPPER REACTS TO RUMOURS

After years of silence, Vert eventually broke his silence in November 2020, after the footage resurfaced on social media.

“I let this go for so long, I never said I was going to die,” he tweeted. Don't you know that the phrase "leave this earth" refers to the use of DMT? I thought I was going to be one of those High ass Ni**s at 27...... SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!!!”

Simultaneously, on July 28, Vert stated that he will be 26 this year.

“Wait what I'm turning 26?” the rapper tweeted. My mother discovered my birth certificate. I'm 26 and I'm feeling good.”

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE 27 CLUB?

The 27 Club features a list of well-known artists who died at the age of 27. According to Rolling Stone, the word gained popularity following Kurt Cobain's death in 1994. Several admirers pointed out that prominent celebrities such as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Brian Jones, among others, died at the age of 27.

This fad gained traction in 2011 after Amy Winehouse died at the same age. Because of his clip from the interview, Vert's name got brought into the dispute. His most recent remarks, however, disclaim any link to the 27 group.
