"The Suicide Squad," directed by James Gunn, has finally arrived, and it more than lives up to the hype. The thrilling anti-hero action film focuses on Task Force X, which is made up of a wacky cast of characters, including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) from the 2016 film "Suicide Squad," as well as newcomers Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone), and Ratcatcher II (Daniela Mel
Aside from the core cast of criminals who have been transformed into temporary heroes, "The Suicide Squad" has a slew of additional intriguing characters. From a "Guardians of the Galaxy" cameo to obscure characters that mean more than you may realize, the film has a vast range of talented stars that made the film so enthralling.
Emilia Harcourt is one of the new characters presented, but she is already featured in the DC "Suicide Squad" comics (via Fandom). She assists Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) in monitoring Task Force X and will appear in the forthcoming HBO Max spinoff "Peacemaker." Here's where you could have seen Emilia's actress before.
Jennifer Holland has appeared in a number of films.
Jennifer Holland worked her way up in Hollywood before earning a role in "The Suicide Squad," acting in many short films and low-budget features. Christine, a psychic on a quest to eliminate a sorority home full of witches, appeared in her debut full-length film, "The Sisterhood," in 2004.
She went on to star in other horror films such as "House of the Dead 2" and "Zombie Strippers," as well as the 2009 film "American Pie Presents: The Book of Love," in which she played Ashley. In 2019, she starred as Ms. Espenschied in James Gunn's superhero horror film "Brightburn," marking their first film collaboration.
Holland explained how she initially became interested in the performing arts in an interview with Maxim. "I think my affinity for performing began when I was in gymnastics at a young age," she stated. "I acquired a taste for the quick satisfaction you get when you perform," Holland says, "so I decided to pursue an acting career when I was 16 and came out to Los Angeles."
She's also been in a slew of television series.
Holland, like many other actresses, had tiny roles in a variety of programs while she sought to establish herself as a performer. She played an unnamed girl in an episode of "Drake & Josh," Julie Gannon, a young woman killed by a shark in an episode of "CSI: Miami," she was April in many episodes of "Days of Our Lives," and she was in one episode each of "Dante's Cove,
" "Cougar Town," and "Rizzoli & Isles."
Her stint on "Asylum" was brief, but she left an impression as a kind nurse who aided both Grace Bertrand (Lizzie Brocheré) and Lana Winter (Sarah Paulson).
Then, in 2017, Holland featured as Becky Phillips, the wife of music studio mogul Sam Phillips, in the CMT drama "Sun Records" (Chad Michael Murray). "Sun Records" was well-received, but it only lasted one season, much to the disappointment of fans. "The way I handled my character Becky was entirely different since she was a real person in history," Holland told Maxim of her experience portraying Becky. "It's been a beautiful challenge."
We can't wait to watch Holland repeat her role as Emilia Harcourt in the "Peacemaker" series.
