On the evening of Aug. 5, DC Comics' highly anticipated sort of sequel, sort of remake The Suicide Squad was set to premiere in cinemas and on HBO Max. So, now that the majority of the audience has seen The Suicide Squad, fans have found that a number of mysteries were kept hidden until the film's release.

In ‘The Suicide Squad,' why did Rick Flag die?

Rick Flag and Peacemaker (John Cena) both make it obvious where their allegiances lay. The peacemaker is revealed to be a traitor who is following Amanda Waller's orders after finding that Project Starfish is not an act of terrorism but a US government-created plot (Viola Davis). After Rick threatens to reveal the government's secret, the Peacemaker kills him and leaves him for dead.

Despite the lethal animosity between Peacemaker and Rick Flag onscreen, Joel stated that he and John Cena formed an off-set relationship that gave the actor a new admiration for professional wrestling.

Joel spoke candidly about his final minutes onscreen in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Although this isn't the first time the Rick Flag actor has died in a film, he claims that this is the first time he has died in a film.

"I started playing this character such a long time ago, and he's someone who's been with me for a long time," Joel told THR. "It felt more special because I sensed that the film was really going to be something special, and even when I read it in the script, it felt like such an important moment in the film."

Despite the fact that Rick Flag did not make it out alive, Harley Quinn and King Shark did. Even Weasel (Sean Gunn), who had been thought dead, turned out to be alive. Presidente General Silvio Luna (Juan Diego Botto), The Thinker (Peter Capaldi), and Blackguard (Pete Davidson) didn't fare as well.

The Suicide Squad's post-credits sequences provided fans a taste of what's to store for the DC Extended Universe, and a special trailer revealed that Peacemaker's tale is far from over.

Peacemaker is discovered by Amanda's men after suffering a near-fatal injury and is subsequently treated. Many fans feel his resurgence has a lot to do with the character's impending HBO Max series of the same name, and we tend to agree.
