After racist England football remarks, Andrew Lawrence's Twitter account was deactivated.
Following England's penalty shootout victory against Italy, comedian Andrew Lawrence's Twitter account was removed after many racist social media remarks were posted on the page.
After many racist comments regarding the Euros final were published on his social media, Andrew Lawrence's Twitter account appears to have been removed.
After comments regarding the Euro 2020 penalty shootout, the 41-year-old stand-up comic, who has acknowledged harboring certain right-wing beliefs in the past, came under criticism.
The racist tweets appeared to be directed at Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, and Jadon Sancho, who all failed to score in Euros final.
One tweet said, "All I'm saying is, the white males won," while another added, "Equality, diversity, s*** penalties."
“I can see that this has offended a lot of people, and I'm sorry that black guys are horrible at penalties,” Andrew said in another post on his now-defunct account.
The account was taken down from Twitter after a massive reaction.
Not only did the comedian's social media statements get backlash, but his whole planned tour was canceled after a number of venues refused to accommodate him.
The Mirror has reached out to Andrew's representative for comment.
Andrew Lawrence was scheduled to perform at nine venues throughout the UK starting next month, however, numerous venues have verified on social media that his appearance has been canceled.
"We have stopped selling tickets for Andrew Lawrence's performance and deleted it from our website as a result of recent tweets from his account. Worcester Live opposes all forms of hate speech, and we are already in contact with Andrew's representation. We'll get back to you as soon as we get an answer "Worcester Live was the source of this article.
The G Live venue in Guildford wrote: "With immediate effect, Andrew Lawrence's performances in the Bellerby Studio at G Live have been removed from sale. We will contact ticket holders as soon as possible."
Andrew Lawrence has received a lot of backlash on social media in the past. He wrote a long Facebook post in 2014 in which he slammed immigrants and female comedians who had secured spots on comedy panel shows.
He later posted a comment on his own website in October 2020, in which he stated that he did not identify as a right-wing comic. "I have definitely been quite critical of the rising half-left wing in British politics over the last year - and particularly caustic of those on the internet who are increasingly now referred to social justice warriors.'"
The statement goes on to say: "I have never claimed to be a "right-wing" comic, and I despise the moniker. I'm not interested in promoting any political cause; instead, I'm focused on discovering new and creative methods to make people laugh, regardless of their political opinions. But, unlike what appears to be the majority of the comedy industry, I do not feel that humor is only the realm of Marxists."
