Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressed his condolences on the death of actor Dilip Kumar, describing him as a "shining light" who "enriched the Indian cinema industry."

Thackeray further stated that Kumar would be given a state funeral and gave instructions on how to do it.

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), also paid respect to the 'Aan' actor's death.

'Mughal-E- Azam' only film I watched: Koshyari

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari praised Kumar as his generation's "Mahanayak," adding that the actor's film "Mughal-E-Azam" is the only one he had seen. Koshyari expressed his condolences in a message "Dilip Kumar was Indian cinema's first superstar. He embodied the golden age of Indian cinema. I was so enthralled by his Mughal-E-Azam that I watched it twice in a row. Unfortunately, I didn't watch any more movies after that, and Mughal-E-Azam was the first and last one I saw."

"Dilip Kumar was a legend in his own right. Nobody will be able to take his position. He was a Mahanayak to me. I pay my respects to the deceased soul's memory and extend my heartfelt sympathies to Smt Saira Bano and Shri Dilip Kumar's many admirers "Koshyari continued.

Kumar's last rites will be held at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West, around 5 pm on Wednesday.
