Jessie J's claim is slammed by Nicki Minaj. She Requested to Be a Part of 'Bang Bang': 'Do I have the title of Damn Song Monitor?'
"We didn't go to her and ask; she wanted to do it," Jessie J stated of Nicki Minaj's inclusion in the 2014 smash song "Bang Bang," which also featured Ariana Grande.
Nicki Minaj and Jessie J have various interpretations of events when it comes to the genesis of their popular song.
In a recent Glamour interview, Jessie J claimed that Minaj asked to donate her vocals to her smash 2014 tune "Bang Bang," but the rapper refuted the story and shared her own account of how the duet came to be on Twitter.
"Bang Bang," a track from Jessie J's album Sweet Talker, features vocals from Ariana Grande.
" 'Bang Bang' was an already-existing tune. 'Bang Bang' was not written by me. "'Bang Bang' was written by Max Martin, and Ariana had heard it, and I had heard it, and we both liked it," Jessie J told the magazine. "We just asked, 'Why don't we do it together?' So Ariana stayed on the second verse, I recorded the first verse, and then Nicki was played it in the studio and was like, 'I've got to jump on this.' We didn't go to her and ask; she wanted to do it."
Minaj, on the other hand, said she was approached by the label and "paid" to appear on the song.
"@JessieJ I didn't hear the music and asked 2get to play it for me. The label requested me to work on it and compensated me for it "The rapper, who is 38 years old, sent out a tweet on Thursday. "How would I have recognized the music if I hadn't been told about it? What the hell am I, the song monitor, chenille? Chile, are you looking for songs? Another musician recently stated the same thing. You have to put an end to LoveU."

Fans chastised Minaj when she posted her answer, claiming that Jessie J spoke respectfully of the artist and had no malicious intent.
One admirer urged Minaj to "delete" her initial tweet, saying, "You know she didn't mean it like that."
"She was obviously thanking you and saying how exciting something like this is for a little artist like her," commented another. "You just destroyed it for her," says the narrator.
Later, in response to another fan who stood by her during the criticism, Minaj remarked that if there was one song by Jessie J that she would have gladly volunteered for, it was "Do It Like a Dude" from 2011.
"Chi, the worst thing is no one ever asked me to get on 'like a man,' and I've been fascinated with that song since the minute I heard it," Nicki wrote. "I heard it on the radio while doing promotion in the UK. Parker, one of my artists, collaborated on it. For some pickle juice, I would've jumped on that one."
Minaj tweeted that she was "stepping back [sic] in the booth" to bring the matter to a close.
While Jessie J has yet to reply publicly to Nicki's comments on the song, in an interview with Glamour, the English singer had nothing but respect for her former partner.
Jessie J said she was blown away the first time she heard "Bang Bang" with the rapper's entire verse.
"I'll never forget: I was in my London flat's bedroom when I got the version with Nicki on it," she recalled. "I was simply sitting at the foot of my bed, gazing at the floor, thinking, 'How the f—- did I land this?'" I felt as if I'd won a competition."
"Bang Bang" would "never have done what it did" without Minaj and Grande, according to Jessie J. "I adore working with them both," she added, adding that they are "so great, and they've both gone on to be two of the world's biggest musicians."
"My appreciation and, to be honest, my experience of girl strength." I was just talking to Ari the other day, and I was thinking to myself, 'We should absolutely do something together.' And she was like, 'If we do, it has to be better than "Bang Bang." ' And I was like, 'Well...' She was like, 'I don't know,' and I was like, 'I don't know.' Because it's just one of those songs that just caught and went," she explained.
Jessie J reflected on their song video shoot, saying, "Nicki had just been there for an hour and a half, and we were all excited. I recall all of us being on set and taking a selfie together. I remember thinking to myself, 'I genuinely feel like a fan in the rear of the photo.' I remember giggling."
"We were all simply giggling and enjoying one other's company. It was fantastic, "she continued.
