'See y'all in the Upside Down,' says a teaser for Stranger Things Season 4's release in 2022.
The trailer teases fresh footage from the much-anticipated upcoming season.
Stranger Things' long-awaited fourth season is nearly here.
On Friday, Netflix released a new trailer for the forthcoming season of the blockbuster show, showcasing new footage as well as a montage of key events from previous seasons. Stranger Things will return in 2022, according to the trailer.
"See y'all in the upside-down," the message says on social media in upside-down writing.
Stranger Things follows a group of individuals as they confront monsters from the Upside- Down. The first three seasons have smashed the streaming service's viewing records and received critical praise.
Stranger Things season 4 production began in November after the COVID-19 epidemic interrupted filming earlier in the year, according to the streaming service. When the epidemic reached the United States in March, the program was a month into production on the next season, with the scripts polished and ready to go, as PEOPLE previously reported.
Set to return for season 4 alongside Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven is Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair) and Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler).
Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn will all return in Season 4, along with a plethora of new characters. Sherman Augustus, Mason Dye, Robert Englund, Nikola Djuricko, and Tom Wlaschiha will appear in recurring roles.
Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour, will also return for Season 4 after his fate was left uncertain at the conclusion of Season 3 when he seemed to die saving the people of Hawkins. Hopper's comeback was announced in February 2020, when Netflix released a teaser titled "From Russia with love..." in which workmen were seen constructing a railway line in a wintry setting, one of whom was revealed to be a bald Hopper.
In a December interview with PEOPLE, Harbour, 46, hinted that in season 4, viewers would witness a whole different side of his character, Jim Hopper.
"This is my favourite season," he remarked. "Because he's about to show you some new colours and reveal what he's made of."
"It's obviously a slower process than normal," he added, "which is saying a lot considering we already take our sweet time creating the programme." "So it's not as steady-paced or consistent as I'm sure any of us would want, but we try our best and play it by ear."
