When Robin Williams died at the age of 63 on August 11, 2014, the world lost one of its most beloved entertainers and comedians. However, Zak Williams, who lost his father that day, faced a far more serious and personal loss. The 38-year-old paid homage to the man who meant so much to so many people on Wednesday.
“Dad, you went away seven years ago today,” he wrote beside a photo of his father. “The pleasure and inspiration you provided to the world live on in your legacy, as well as in your loved ones, family, friends, and admirers. You loved to make others laugh and to assist others. Today will be a day of remembrance for you. “I will always love you.”
This remark comes only weeks after the younger Williams made another social media post in honor of his father on what would have been his 70th birthday. On July 21, he posted on his Instagram account, "I would like you to know that your great spirit lives inside us." “Today, our family will honor you and your memories. We miss you and will always adore you!”
Dad, seven years ago today you passed on. The joy and inspiration you brought to the world carries on in your legacy and in your family, friends, and fans you so loved. You lived to bring laughter and to help others. I will be celebrating your memory today. Love you forever. pic.twitter.com/xw2pkO4shZ

After a lengthy struggle with depression and anxiety, the actor from "Good Will Hunting" committed suicide. In May, his son, a mental health advocate, came up about the impact of the tragedy on his own mental health. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry for Apple TV's "The Me You Can't See," he remarked, "I found myself tremendously emotionally dysregulated and felt vulnerable and exposed when I wasn't ready to be vulnerable." "And it was a significant issue for me," according to TODAY.
Robin Williams' sole child from his first marriage to Valerie Velardi was Zak Williams. The late actor has another son, Cody Williams, 29, and a daughter, Zelda Williams, 32, from his second marriage to Marsha Garces.
