Britney Spears slams fake, "righteous" support from her friends and family.
Britney Spears has received a lot of public support in her bid to terminate her eight-year conservatorship, but for some, it may be too late.
The singer resorted to Instagram late Friday night to criticize friends and family members who have come out in favor of the celebrity only after her shocking statement, claiming that their "righteous" conduct is fake.
“There's nothing worse than having individuals close to you who have never been up for you write things about your predicament, whatever it is, and shout righteously for support... Spears, 39, opened the long message with, "There's nothing worse than that!!!!"
“How could the people you love say anything at all... did they even stretch out a hand to help me up at the TIME!!!???,” she said. “How dare you make it public that you NOW CARE... did you reach out to save me while I was drowning???? NO, once more.”
She didn't name names, but she feels that many people are just openly supporting her now to "save face."
“if you’re reading this and you know who you are … and you actually have the nerve to say anything about my situation just to save face for yourself publicly !!! If you’re gonna post something …. Please stop with the righteous approach when you’re so far from righteous it’s not even funny …. 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼 and have a good day.
“PS if you're reading this now and can relate....,” she added. I apologize because I understand... and I give you my heartfelt greetings!!!!”
“Never forget who neglected you when you needed them and who helped you before you ever asked,” the caption said with a written post.
Many fans in her comment section believe the singer is alluding to her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, who many feel has known for years about Britney's "abusive" conservatorship and has chosen to keep silent.
One Britney admirer remarked, "Jamie Lynn Spears is shaking in her cowboy boots right now," while another added, "JAMIE LYNN IS SINKING."
Jamie Lynn alleges she waited until after Britney's testimony to speak out because she thought the "Womanizer" singer should have been the one to give her side of the story first.
“The only reason I haven't [spoken] previously is that I thought it wasn't my place and it wasn't the proper thing to do until my sister was ready to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly,” the actress explained.
Last weekend, the "Zoey 101" star debunked reports of a family dispute by sharing a box of toys Britney gave to her kids.
Others speculated that the actress was alluding to her own mother, Lynn Spears, or perhaps her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, who apologised to the star in February for contributing to her public image's deterioration in the early 2000s.
“Regardless of our past, good and bad, and regardless of how long ago it was... what's happening to her is simply not right,” he said following her testimony in June.
