Elton John ‘shocked’ by DaBaby’s homophobic comments

Elton John and his organization are "shocked" by DaBaby's recent alleged homophobic remarks, in which he stated that ignorance regarding AIDS and HIV has "no place in our culture."

“We were horrified to learn of the HIV misinformation and homophobic remarks made during a recent DaBaby performance. This promotes stigma and prejudice, which is the polar opposite of what our world needs to combat the AIDS pandemic, according to John's personal Twitter account, which followed up with four tweets containing factual facts regarding the virus.

“Homophobic and HIV misinformation have no place in our society or business, and as musicians, we must convey compassion and love to those who are most marginalized in our communities,” says the musician.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation was formed in 1992 by the 74-year-old “Bennie and the Jets” singer with the goal of eliminating the AIDS pandemic.

“If you didn't show here today with HIV, AIDS, or any of those horrible sexually transmitted illnesses, that'll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” the 29-year-old “Suge” rapper said following his act at Rolling Loud Miami. Put your smartphone lighter up, if you ain't sucking d–k in the parking lot.”

After the fact, he doubled back on his remarks, but on Tuesday evening, he chose to apologise.
