According to the company's president, sales of Kendall Jenner's 818 Tequila have already surpassed the statistics expected for the first two years of business in just two months.

Model and Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kendall Jenner launched 818 Tequila, which debuted in California in May and has since expanded to Nevada, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, and Florida.

According to celebrity website Page Six, shops sold out of stock within four hours of the brand's introduction, citing an unnamed source. The story was "correct," according to Mike Novy, president, and chief operating officer of 818.

“In the first week of introduction, most of the stores we went to sold out in a matter of days to a week,” he added.

The same anonymous insider also claimed that 818 Tequila's launch "bested initial sales from other Tequila brands from stars like LeBron James and George Clooney" – the latter of whom sold his Casamigos brand to Diageo for a massive $1 billion deal – and exceeded one million nine-liter-case sales in 2020.

“What I can tell you is that one of our big trade partners told us that the launch of 818 sold more volume to more accounts in the first 30 minutes than their next greatest Tequila launch had done in the first 30 days,” Novy said.

“We're on course to be one of the most successful spirits launches ever, even more, successful than Tequila debuts.”

Since Jenner initially revealed the debut on Instagram in February 2021, 818 has garnered a lot of attention, but Novy said the fast sales had exceeded even the brand's expectations. “To put that in perspective, we have orders for more cases of Tequila in the first two months of business than we planned to sell in the first two years.” “Just so we don't give too much up to our competitors,” he said, declining to provide particular case numbers.

Jenner's 818 has increased production during the last month due to increased demand, according to Novy. “We've moved to a distillery where we're the only [Tequila] being manufactured there... We realized that the scale of our opportunity was greater than our current capabilities.”

818 has no intentions to establish its own distillery at this time.

Jenner joins the likes of George Clooney, wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock' Johnson, singer Rita Ora, and others in the Tequila category.
