Michael Che promotes a live event following the Simone Biles scandal.
The 38-year-old comedian and "Saturday Night Live" cast member was chastised after posting jokes about the Olympic gymnast on his Instagram account.
Michael Che returned to Instagram on Saturday night to advertise a live concert in New York City, after receiving flak for allegedly making jokes about Simone Biles.
The 38-year-old comic and "Saturday Night Live" co-head writer faced backlash following postings on his Instagram account, one of which said, "man, I want to make fun of Simone Biles."
That was followed by another post in which it was stated, "I had about 3 minutes of Simone Biles jokes running through my brain. Tonight, I'm going down the cellar to speak them into a microphone. As the nerdy kids say, "I'm going to choose violence." "a reference to the Comedy Cellar, a New York City comedy club
Che did not show at the club this week. However, according to a subsequent tweet on Saturday, he intends to play at The Stand, another New York City live-comedy venue. Che is set to perform at The Stand at 11:59 p.m., according to the venue's website.
"tonight @thestandnyc link in bio," he tweeted with a screenshot of the venue's website in the description. "And, gentlemen, no smart apples, please. Don't come if you're a troublemaker or a prankster!"
Tickets for the event looked to have sold out in just a few minutes.
Earlier this week, Che's Instagram account re-shared more jokes, including one about Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics doctor accused of sexually abusing hundreds of children and women, including Biles.
Che later claimed that his account had been hacked, stating, "I was hacked today, maaannn I can't believe they obtained my number. You all know I exclusively make jokes about white people and cops. Everything is ok now, I reset my password and everything... but did you hear about dababy? That's insane... right? I'll see you all at church. I'm going to arrive early."
However, following that assertion, he appeared to double down on the entire ordeal, at one point uploading an Instagram story post with the comment, "I'm a goddamn martyr."
Managers and publicists for Che did not respond to NBC News' requests for comment on Friday.
