Barbra Streisand has one of the most beautiful voices in history. However, she does not always appreciate hearing it.
Streisand tells Film Vodka, "I don't listen to my records and I don't watch my movies." "I prefer to be in the moment."
The eight-time Grammy winner made an exception for his new album, "Release Me 2," which includes ten previously unheard tracks from 1962 to 2014. The unusual collection includes duets with Willie Nelson, Kermit the Frog, and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, as well as new renditions of Carole King's ("You Light Up My Life") and Randy Newman's ("Living Without You") classics.
During the COVID-19 shutdown earlier this year, Streisand put together the CD, as she was also working on her upcoming memoir.
She describes the situation in the country as "horrific." "However, it was a really contemplative period in terms of being able to concentrate without having to attend events or have people around." I was able to concentrate on my novel, which I had been working on for a long time. Because I've turned down invitations to write a book for approximately 40 years, it's a good thing I kept diaries to remember so many things.
"Forty years?" she asks, pausing for a while. "It's astonishing how quickly time passes."
Streisand, 79, and her husband, actor James Brolin, were both immunized against COVID-19 earlier this year, and the Oscar winner for "Funny Girl" continues to encourage people to get vaccinated through her active presence on Twitter.
"I simply hope that this COVID outbreak encourages others to be vaccinated so that we may continue to live full lives," she adds. "There is much too much disinformation and a lack of faith in science's ability. I remember having the polio vaccine, and today there is no such thing as polio. So, if everyone gets their injections, we may be able to eliminate new variations and COVID for good."
