“I certainly pulled a lot of inspiration from times I went psycho and went into a deep dive,” the TikTok star exclusively tells people.com.
All psychos are invited!
Dixie D'Amelio, a TikTok star, debuted her highly anticipated "Psycho" music video at a premiere launch party sponsored by Triller on Thursday.
"Psycho," the follow-up to her May hit "F—boy," is D'Amelio's first co-written song, and it includes rapper Rubi Rose.
"I really adore visual lyrics," D'Amelio, 19, tells PEOPLE exclusively about her new song. "I love anything that I can hear and then fully build a scenario, and I feel like 'Psycho' really accomplishes that."
The singer also admits to emulating the "Psycho" conduct she depicts in her songs on occasion.
"I definitely got a lot of inspiration from moments when I went insane and did a deep dig," Dixie admits. "Who is this girl? Who are you talking to?"
Dixie says she'd do it for herself and her friends: "We'll find out every single girl this guy's talking to in under 15 minutes, and I feel like most girls can do it. We have a special FBI talent."
The music video, directed by Steven Gomillion, follows Dixie as she descends into what appears to be various stages of "psycho."
Alternating between the singer's everyday appearance and her darker alter-ego, the video ultimately depicts how a person can easily act out of character based on the actions of others.
D'Amelio says she feels this is "by far her finest video performance-wise," and she even had a fashion mistake during the film production.
"It had a platform with screws in it," she explains, "and it is just undone, and I didn't even notice because I was so into it." "And I thought it was very amusing,"
the "Fuck—" singer said in a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show about her plans to play on stage.
When asked if she would consider her sister, Charli D'Amelio, 17, as a back-up dancer, the TikTok star answers "absolutely not," despite the fact that she believes she isn't quite ready yet.
"I know it seems harsh," she adds, "but as I often say, we never... we do things alongside each other, but never truly together."
"I wouldn't show up to her dancing competition and sing. 'We can do photoshoots together,' it just protects our connection as sisters. We can collaborate on clothing designs.' However, I believe that situations in which we must perform several rehearsals would not be ideal "she said.
The two sisters will also feature in their new reality show, The D'Amelio Show, which premieres on September 3rd.
Charlie and Dixie's life, as well as their relationship with their parents Marc and Heidi, will be explored in-depth in the first season, which will consist of eight episodes.
