Markie Post, Actress in 'The Fall Guy' and 'Night Court,' Dies at 70

Markie Post, who was renowned for her roles in The Fall Guy and Night Court, died after a battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.

On Saturday evening, Post's manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, confirmed her death to The Hollywood Reporter.

Post began her career in television as an assistant producer on the game show Double Dare, which was hosted by the late Alex Trebek. She was born in Palo Alto, California, in 1950.

She made her broadcast debut in the television movie Frankie and Annette: The Second Time Around. Following that, Post featured in a variety of shows, ranging from the comedy Semi-Tough to the crime thriller The Gangster Chronicles, Fantasy Island, and The Love Boat.

Post played Terri Michaels in the action adventure series The Fall Guy from 1982 to 1985, with Lee Majors, Heather Thomas, and Douglas Barr. She then had recurring parts in Hearts Afire and Odd Man Out after playing Christine Sullivan in the comedy series Night Court.

In Peter and Bobby Farrelly's There's Something About Mary, Post played Cameron Diaz's mother in 1998. Chicago P.D., The Kids Are Alright TV series, and Transformers Prime, in which she portrayed June Darby, are among Post's more recent credits.

Following her cancer diagnosis, Post continued to pursue acting jobs, making cameos on programs like Santa Clarita Diet.

“But our pleasure is in who she was in addition to performing; a person who created intricate cakes for friends, stitched curtains for first apartments, and showed us how to be kind, kind, and forgiving in an often harsh world,” Post's family said in a statement.

Post is survived by her children Kate Armstrong Ross and Daisy Schoenborn, as well as her husband, director and writer Michael A. Ross.

The memorial's details have yet to be revealed.
