Rihanna's cosmetics empire is branching out into scent.

The singer and entrepreneur will launch her Fenty Parfum fragrance on Monday as part of her Fenty Beauty brand, after teasing it on Instagram on Wednesday. According to the company, the genderless scent is "spicy and sweet all at once" and is "intended to be worn by all individuals, for all circumstances."

Rihanna was inspired by the scent of her background in Barbados and her visits to France, New York, and Los Angeles. The smell was developed in collaboration with LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and comprises notes of magnolia, musk, tangerine, blueberry, Bulgarian rose, geranium, and patchouli.

In a statement, Rihanna said, "That's the thing I love the most: it's an experience, a memory, encapsulated into a fragrance." “One smell will stay with you for the rest of your life.”

The amber bottle of the scent is also a reflection of Rihanna's aesthetic, as amber is her favorite hue. The bottle was created to "fit perfectly in her palm" and symbolize "a harmonic balance between femininity and masculinity."

Rihanna explained, "I wanted a deep hue that really reflected all genders from all walks of life." “My favorite color is brown. I'm a brown person. I'm from a brown family. If I'm going to create a scent that reflects me, even the bottle's body language has to reflect that, therefore I wanted something dark yet transparent so you could see the liquid and the aroma you're about to smell.”

Rihanna's Fenty Beauty brand debuts with this scent. In the early 2010s, she had a celebrity licensing contract with Parlux Perfumes Inc. and released numerous popular fragrances.

This is also Rihanna's most recent collaboration with LVMH. With one of the most varied shade ranges of foundation on the market, she debuted her Fenty Cosmetics brand with the luxury conglomerate in 2016, setting a new benchmark for inclusion and diversity in the beauty business. Since then, she's expanded her cosmetics line to include additional makeup categories and launched a second line, Fenty Skin, in July 2020.

Rihanna's cosmetics business has been a success, but she hasn't had the same luck in the fashion industry. In 2019, the artist created history by collaborating with LVMH to launch her Fenty fashion collection. This was the first time a Black woman led a brand under the conglomerate, and it was also the first time LVMH had created a wholly new brand since Christian Lacroix in 1987.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic's problems and inability to establish its foothold, Film Vodka exclusively discovered in February that Rihanna and LVMH were putting the Fenty fashion brand on indefinite hold, focusing instead on her burgeoning cosmetics business.

Rihanna also has a popular lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, which raised $115 million in a Series B funding round headed by L Catterton earlier this year. Rihanna has cast a broad variety of models and celebrities to partake in the presentations, which has revolutionized the lingerie fashion show.

Starting August 10, the Fenty Eau de Parfum fragrance will be available for $120 on the Fenty Beauty website.
