Josh Peck and Ashley Reyes have been added to the cast of the upcoming Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father.
According to Deadline, the performers are currently set to appear alongside Hilary Duff in the forthcoming series, which serves as a successor to the wildly popular CBS comedy series How I Met Your Mother
The continuation project has been in development for several years, and a pilot featuring Meg Ryan and Greta Gerwig was previously shot but ultimately not picked up by a network.
Peck, 34, is currently set to portray a vice principal at an elementary school where much of the story takes place.
Reyes will play a surgical resident who maintains a long-distance relationship with one of the show's main characters.
How I Met Your Father is framed around a woman named Sophie, portrayed by Duff, as she tells her son about how she became acquainted with his dad.
The series will also follow a tight-knit group of friends as they navigate the modern world of dating and choosing potential romantic partners.
Other performers who are set to appear in the show include Francia Raisa, Chris Lowell and Suraj Sharma.
A spinoff series to How I Met Your Mother entered the development stage shortly before the original program's ending, which occurred in 2014.
A television pilot entitled How I Met Your Dad was shot that same year, with Gerwig, Ryan and other performers, such as Anders Holm and Nicholas D'Agosto, rounding out the cast.
However, the project was passed on by CBS executives after the original series' creators, Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, decided not to reshoot the episode.
How I Met Your Dad's script was eventually leaked on the internet in 2016.
A second attempt at a spinoff was launched that same year, with Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger helming the project and Thomas and Bays serving as executive producers.
The This Is Us showrunners later became involved with other projects, and the new version of the show was also shot down by executives.
This past April, it was announced that a third spinoff was being developed and that Duff had signed on to voice the main character.
The new project will be similar in format to the original series, and the Lizzie McGuire star will also serve as a producer.
Aptaker and Berger are set to write for How I Met Your Father and act as two of its executive producers.
The duo previously spoke to Deadline and expressed their excitement about being involved with the long-gestating project.
Specifically, the creative partners remarked that they were 'so honored to be carrying the torch forward for the next generation.'
How I Met Your Father currently does not have a set release date.
