Ridley Scott's latest film on the fantastically affluent Gucci family is currently screening in theatres around the country.
The film, which stars Lady Gaga and some of Hollywood's greatest celebrities, tells the tale of how Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) marries one of the world's most prestigious fashion houses.
Her ambition endangers the family's heritage as well as their safety.
Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Camille Cottin, Jack Huston, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Lady Gaga, Reeve Carney, and Salma Hayek are among the cast members.
The Independent's Clarisse Loughrey scored the film four stars, noting, "Unlike Scott's prior directorial attempt... Gucci's House is less concerned with being relevant in today's world."
"It's a more basic tale of lovely things being tainted by vile appetites."
"The way Gucci's main shop in Rome is touted as the "Vatican of fashion" has a knowing aspect to it, as if its golden facade might mask all kinds of misdeeds within."
Is Gucci House based on a true story?
The film House of Gucci is based on a true tale and is adapted from Sara Gay Forden's non-fiction book of the same name, which was published in 2001.
After Patrizia Reggiani, who did Maurizio Gucci date?
After dating for two years, Maurizio Gucci married Patrizia Reggiani in 1972. His father initially opposed the marriage, but following the birth of their son in 1976, he changed his mind.
Their marital issues began in 1983 when Maurizio was awarded controlling ownership in Gucci and began a court struggle to remove other family members from the company.
He abruptly ended the marriage in 1985, traveling to Florence, and sent a friend to inform his then-wife, Patrizia, that he would not be returning.
Patrizia was envious of him since he started dating Paola Franchi (a childhood friend). In 1994, they divorced, leaving her with a €2.5 million settlement and a €650,000 monthly alimony payment that she did not believe enough.
What happened to Patrizia Reggiani?
In March 1995, Maurizio was shot and died outside his office. After an anonymous tip, Patrizia was apprehended two years later.
In 1997, she was sentenced to nearly 30 years in jail and tried to have her sentence overturned. She also tried to commit suicide.
However, she was freed in 2014 as part of a work-release program before being released for good behavior in 2016.
