The latest trailer for Dune showcases its all-star ensemble (and a sandworm)
After months of delays, Denis Villeneuve's Dune will finally be released on October 22nd. That means it's time to ramp up the promotion for the picture once more, beginning with a new trailer — the first in over a year — for the forthcoming sci-fi blockbuster.
The new teaser provides a far clearer glimpse at Dune's real narrative, which is set in a far-future galactic empire that relies on a mysterious "spice" to facilitate trade and travel among the stars. Because the spice can only be found on one planet, the desert world of Arrakis (hence the title), there is considerable strife over who owns the world — and hence the spice.
There are also sandworms.
Dune is based on Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel of the same name, and the film stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgard, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem.
Dune, which was originally scheduled to be published on December 18th, 2020, might be the next major property for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. There are plans for a sequel (which may potentially cover the second half of Herbert's original novel) as well as an HBO Max prequel series, Dune: The Sisterhood.
On October 22nd, Dune will be released in cinemas and on HBO Max.
