Actor Isaiah Stokes from 'Law & Order: SVU' has been charged with murder in a shooting in New York City.
Isaiah Stokes, a TV actor who has appeared on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Power," and "Blue Bloods," has been charged with murder in the killing of a New York man in February.
After being arraigned by a grand jury in a Queens courthouse on Friday, Stokes, 41, was charged with second-degree murder and two charges of second-degree illegal weapon possession.
In a news statement, Queen District Attorney Melinda Katz remarked, "The defendant is suspected of firing approximately eleven bullets during this brazen midday shooting." "In our communities, gun violence is all too common. We're not going to let that become the norm."
According to prosecutors, video security evidence from February 7 shows Stokes entering a car and approaching the driver's side window of a parked white Jeep Grand Cherokee. Tyrone Jones, 37, died as a result of his injuries after Stokes reportedly fired eleven rounds into the vehicle.
Stokes' court date has been set for July 19 by Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder. Stokes faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
Stokes' representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
