Dreams come true,' says Megan Thee Stallion and Leyna Bloom on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit
Megan Thee Stallion and Leyna Bloom are making history and having a "Hot Girl Summer" at the same time.
The trailblazing cover models for this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue were revealed on Monday, and they featured tennis sensation Naomi Osaka, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, the first rapper to land the cover, and Bloom, the first transgender woman to appear on the cover.
"I was the little girl who said, "One day, this will be me," as she gazed at the cover of Sports Illustrated. And I brought it into being "In a cover interview with Sports Illustrated, the 26-year-old rapper said.
The "Savage" rapper also rushed to Instagram to share the "Good News," writing, "REAL SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT EDITION COVER MODEL (expletive)!!!!" in the description of her picture.
Naomi Osaka is the first female Black athlete to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
"The cover of @si_swimsuit for the first time features a female rapper. I'd want to express my gratitude to all of the strong women in my life who have encouraged me to embrace my femininity and live my best hot girl life. Being on the cover of DREAM COME TRUE!! #SISwim21 means the world to me "she penned
"I've had a million lovely dreams, but in a society that frequently erases and omits our history and our existence, most dreams are merely fanciful aspirations for girls like me. This moment is extremely significant because it permits me to carry on after my bodily form has died "Bloom took to Instagram to express himself.
Bloom dedicated this cover "to all the ballroom femme queens past, present, and future," emphasizing the significance of representation.
"For #girlslikeus, this historical moment is significant because it allows us to exist and be seen. Many girls, like us, would never get the opportunity to pursue our ambitions or live long lives. I hope that my cover encourages people who are fighting to be recognized and respected to do so."
Bloom, who also broke new territory, stated that she was "very pleased, flattered, and humbled" by the achievement.
Bloom has been a trailblazer in the fashion world. During New York Fashion Week in September 2017, she became one of the first openly transgender models, and she was the first transgender lady of color to appear in Vogue India in October 2017.
The "Pose" actress made history in March when she became the first transgender woman of color to appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue since the beginning of the renowned magazine over 60 years ago.
She follows in the footsteps of Brazilian model Valentina Sampaio, who made history in July 2020 by being the first openly transgender Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model.
