Ashley Judd claims she can walk again six months after almost losing her leg in an accident.

Ashley Judd has announced that she is walking again after nearly losing her leg in an accident over six months ago.

The Kiss the Girls star was sent to the hospital in February after suffering "catastrophic injuries" on a jungle trip in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Her leg had fractured in four places, and Judd said she might have died from internal bleeding or lost her limb if it hadn't been for the "Congolese brothers and sisters" who had cared about her.

Judd posted a series of videos and images on Instagram on Sunday (1 August) while hiking for an hour in the Swiss National Park in Zernez, demonstrating her improvement since her injury.

Greetings, Friends! “I give this update with reverence and silent awe,” she stated. “I walked again today, five months and three weeks after the injury in the Congolese rainforest, and in style!

“Stepping inside, I felt at peace, wearing my natural clothing of self, and at rest in my soul. My leg and foot performed admirably. I boldly went upward on rough ground for an hour and then descended slowly and easily.”

“The next day, I hiked on a high Alp in #Ticino, working hard and realizing how much stamina I need to rebuild,” she wrote. This is the path that lies ahead. But I'm up to the daily grind, as evidenced by the fact that I'm bringing firewood into our Alpine hut!”

Judd highlighted one slide that showed a video of her foot moving when she was outside, thanking her physicians for their success.

“It's unheard of to see a video of my foot moving. We anticipated my foot to *begin* to move in a year, if it did at all. She went and blew us all away four months to the day. She added, "Now, after sobbing while trying to type the ABCs with a paralyzed foot.... well, you see!"

“I'll never be able to walk on the same leg again. She is a brand-new limb. I also adore her. We're friends. We've gone a long way and have a wonderful future ahead of us.”
