The theatrical release of 'Clifford The Big Red Dog' has been postponed by Paramount Pictures due to COVID issues.

The theatrical release of 'Clifford The Big Red Dog' has been postponed by Paramount Pictures due to COVID issues.

Clifford The Big Red Dog may have to wait a bit longer to take over the even bigger screen for families.

A spokeswoman for Paramount Pictures confirmed to Film Vodka in an emailed statement Saturday that "Clifford the Big Red Dog" has been moved back from its original September 17 release date. COVID-19 issues, which are on the rise across the country, were cited as a reason for the change of plans. A new release date has yet to be determined by the producing firm.

The family-friendly film is the latest in a long line of films affected by the coronavirus epidemic. Due to the COVID, Tom Cruise's newest "Top Gun" sequel has been put back twice. The initial postponement was planned for July 2 but was later shifted to November 17. In addition, work on the highly anticipated "The Batman" film, in which Robert Pattinson plays The Dark Knight of Gotham City, was halted in March 2020. The postponement moved the release date out to March 2022.

The live-action "Clifford" film is based on Norman Bridwell's children's book series, which was first published in the 1960s. Darby Camp, Jake Whitehall, and Kenan Thompson play real-life characters in the updated rendition. The gigantic CGI-animated Clifford, on the other hand, was the figure that drew the most attention once the trailer was published.

After seeing the live-action adaption for the first time a month ago, audiences had mixed feelings, calling it "terrifying."

"Just discovered out how they shot Clifford The Big Red Dog before CGI and it's extremely scary," one person said.
"I'm sorry, but the live-action adaption of "Clifford the big red dog" seems HORRIFYING," commented another person who was scared by the clip.

Before being released on the Paramount+ Streaming platform, the film was scheduled to have a theatrical release. The film's Twitter account revealed on July 20 that "Clifford" would also premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in early September.
