Burning questions about 'Space Jam: A New Legacy' include: Is that the home of LeBron James? And what about his true family?
After being abducted by the insane villain Al G. Rhythm, NBA great LeBron James spends the majority of "Space Jam: A New Legacy" locked in the "server-verse" of the Warner Bros. Studios computer system (Don Cheadle).
These cinematic rhythms are unquestionably not inspired by James' real life. Even the scene in which the cartoon James transforms into the superhero Robin is made up (James would definitely morph into Batman!).
However, the film's at-home scenes, such as James' rocking house with that blue basketball court and his loving onscreen family, appear to be genuine. Here's what's accurate and what's not in "Space Jam" regarding James' life (in theatres and HBO Max).
Does LeBron James own that mansion with the high-tech blue basketball court?
Michael Jordan was represented as residing in a neighborhood house on a tree-lined street in the 1996 original "Space Jam," with his bulldog Charles love-attacking him as he walked up the front steps.
The outside of James' "New Legacy" home has been blown up, with panoramic vistas of the city and a gorgeous blue basketball court with interesting technologies.
It isn't, however, one of the Lakers star's several residences. According to the Los Angeles Times, James has two Brentwood, Los Angeles homes for $21 million and $23 million, respectively. In 2020, the NBA superstar also purchased a neighboring Mediterranean-style Beverly Hills complex worth $36.75 million, which includes two guest cottages and a screening room.
The blue basketball court in the movie was constructed on top of a tennis court near Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. Cedric Joe, who plays James' son Dom, got the anticipated wow reaction. "I was speechless when I saw that court," Joe adds.
Director Malcolm D. Lee adds, "We believed it was a fantastic tribute to the lifestyle (LeBron James) has earned and attained."
And there is no such thing as a basketball passing machine that reacts to James' vocal orders for quick assists. Yet. "I'm sure LeBron will be the first to acquire it when it comes out," Lee predicts.
Is LeBron James' real family in 'Space Jam'?
Jordan's family and genuine children were absent from the film, but their names (Jeffrey, Marcus, and Jasmine) were utilized. The actors playing James' family in "New Legacy" have alternate names to emphasize the fictitious plot.
Daughter Zhuri Nova, 6, sons Bryce Maximus James, 14, and LeBron "Bronny" James Jr., 16, make up the true "James Gang," as James lovingly refers to them. At the Los Angeles premiere of "Space Jam," James was joined by Zhuri and Savannah on the red carpet.
Ceyair J Wright portrays older brother Darius, Harper Leigh Alexander portrays daughter Xosha James, and Sonequa Martin-Green portrays James' screen wife, Kamiyah.
