LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dr. Dre will pay his ex-girlfriend $3.5 million each year out of his own money.

Dr. Dre was sentenced to pay Nicole Young $3.5 million in alimony per year.

According to People, a Los Angeles court on Tuesday ordered the rapper-turned-mogul to pay Young, 51, $293,306 a month in spousal support. According to the website, the money covers the expenditures of the couple's California residences in Malibu and Pacific Palisades, as well as Young's health insurance.

According to MarketWatch, the first payment is due on August 1.

According to court records, the arrangement will be in effect until Young remarries or enters into a new domestic relationship. The contract will be null and invalid if either Dr. Dre, whose actual name is Andre Romelle Young, or Nicole Young dies, or if a “further order of the court” is issued.
Forbes estimates Dr. Dre's net worth to be $800 million.

According to People, the couple has two children: Truce Young, 24, and Truly Young, 20.

Nicole Young filed for divorce from her husband of 24 years in June 2020, according to the Los Angeles Times. According to People, the application came a month after Dr. Dre was pronounced legally single. The decision came months after Nicole Young accused the music producer of physical and emotional abuse during their relationship, according to the New York Times. According to the publication, Dr. Dre has rejected the claims.
