Megan Fox discusses filming 'Magic' with Machine Gun Kelly and dispels rumors about Lala Kent missing the premiere.
Megan Fox stars as an undercover cop who investigates and beats up on a criminally sleazy hotel owner played by Colson Baker in her new flick (aka Machine Gun Kelly).
This was the love potion for the "Transformers" actress, 35, and the rapper, 31, who met on the set of "Midnight in the Switchgrass" in March 2020.
More than a year later, Hollywood's reigning red carpet PDA-forward duo is still going strong. But now, fans can see the film that sparked it all, even though Fox claims it was fate rather than the cinematic drama that ignited the pyrotechnics.
"It was just two people that were primed and meant to be together," Fox explains. "It was fate that brought us together."
Here's everything you need to know about the couple's characters in filmmaker Randall Emmett's "Midnight in the Switchgrass" (in digital and cinemas Friday), which has a 9 percent positive review rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Megan Fox on 'quiet moments between the scenes' with MGK
MGK Fox's undercover FBI agent Rebecca Lombardo unintentionally tussles with criminally sleazy suspected sex trafficker Calvin (Baker) in one of his neon-lit hotel rooms, according to Megan Fox. He is not the intended victim of the sting. "He is not the target!" yells Lombardo's FBI partner (Bruce Willis) over her headset.
Calvin, on the other hand, pulls a knife on Lombardo and begins throwing the (6-foot-4) malefactor around, an impossible accomplishment.
"He's a lot bigger than me," Fox, who is 5 feet 6 inches tall, adds. "He's around seven feet tall, and I'm small, so this isn't going to happen in real life. But everything went well. We hadn't met yet, so it was like two actors doing a fight scene, but with a little more shine."
Baker's leopard-print leather leggings add to the screen glitter. It's not only for crooks who own Florida motels."
That's something he'd wear to breakfast, I'm sure "According to Fox.
Before only two days of filming, the two enjoyed some pre-production work on the Puerto Rican set to get to know each other.
"All the beauty was happening in the quiet moments between the scenes," Fox recalls.
"But on the first day, I felt insane. That vibe was really overpowering and chaotic. I was getting all these sensations that I couldn't put my finger on; all I knew was that something intense was going on."
Following a heated fight scene, the pair bonded.
In the couple's second encounter, Lombardo seeks Calvin again to shake him down for information about a truck stop the serial murderer. Lombardo coerces Calvin into speaking by threateningly pointing her rifle in his face and even into his lips.
Baker was unconcerned.
"He has a really high pain tolerance and is obviously quite irresponsible, so he's good to go full-throttle with anything," Fox adds. "There were no reservations."
At the conclusion of Day 2, Fox claims the two became closer when speaking in her trailer, "when I took him to truly talk to him, to get to know him more."
Following the scene, the film team was forced to close due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Despite this, Fox and Baker blossomed during the epidemic before making their red carpet debut at the American Music Awards in November.
Megan Fox Shut Down Lala Kent Rumor
Megan Fox debunks the Lala Kent allegation Fox seems surprisingly uninterested in witnessing her "Midnight" screen chemistry with Baker.
"That was just something we were living in; so much has transpired since," Fox explains. "It's not essential to ask, 'Did we have chemistry onscreen?' because chemistry has taken us this far."
This week's "Midnight" premiere in Los Angeles was not attended by Fox, Baker, or Willis. Fox was informed by film reps that the missed premiere was due to COVID-19 issues.
Following the premiere, numerous media sites speculated on potential shade thrown by Emmett's girlfriend, model Lala Kent, over Fox's absence. Kent used her Instagram Story to upload a (now-deleted) photo that precisely blocked Fox on the movie poster and wrote: "So thrilled for this!" where Fox's name would have appeared.
Fox missed the supposed shade ("I don't see anything since I'm not online") but doesn't believe the media hoopla.
"I admire Lala, so I can't believe she'd attempt to do something nasty like that," Fox adds. "She's a wonderful lady."
In a statement to USA TODAY, Kent denied slamming Fox.
"My mum captured a key event in my fiancé's life," Kent explained. "It was never intended to cast a negative light on anyone. Megan is someone I like since she has always been kind to me. I'm appreciative of her support of Randall's directorial debut. I'm really proud of both of them."
