Luke Combs pays for the funerals of three individuals found dead near the Faster Horses Festival.

Luke Combs is footing the bill for the funerals of three individuals discovered dead at a music festival where he played over the weekend.

Combs' spokesperson, Asha Goodman, confirmed to us on Thursday that the country singer had covered the funeral expenses.

The three guys were discovered dead inside a travel trailer near Michigan's Faster Horses Festival, which Combs headlined on Friday night.

Thomas Rhett (Saturday) and Jason Aldean were among the other headliners (Sunday).

Officials with the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department said they got a 911 call Saturday afternoon about "unresponsive people" at a campsite near the three-day country music festival in Brooklyn. When first responders arrived, they discovered five unresponsive males in their early twenties inside the trailer.

Three people were pronounced dead at the site, but two were evacuated by ambulance to a nearby hospital in serious condition and treated for acute carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the sheriff's office. The 911 caller, according to authorities, was a buddy who got worried when he hadn't heard from the guys.

"This terrible occurrence is being examined as a possible carbon monoxide exposure from a generator quite close to the travel trailer," they stated in a statement.

Melissa Donna Havens, 30, died at the festival, and state police were also looking into her death. Havens' body was discovered early Saturday and an autopsy and toxicology testing were done. Detectives were asking for the public's assistance in identifying a guy observed with Havens within 24 hours of her body's discovery.

According to state police at the time, “detectives want the public to know there is no risk or threat to people” at the festival.

In a statement posted on Instagram on Monday, the event addressed the fatalities.

The statement said, "All of us in the Faster Horses Festival Family are very grieved by the awful losses this weekend." "We will continue to maintain constant communication with the Lenawee County Sheriff and all other law enforcement authorities, and we will follow their lead on any and all information as it becomes official. Our hearts ache for the victims' families, friends, and loved ones."

On their festival fact page, organizers do address the usage of generators at campsites, stating that generators are permitted except in the infield. However, the clearance came with a caveat.

"Because campsites are fairly close together, we ask that all Festival campers be respectful of their camping neighbors while using a generator," according to the information page. "Please 'pipe up' internal generators to minimise excessive levels of carbon monoxide and noise. This allows the exhaust to escape over the RV rather than into your neighbours' camping space."

The Jackson County medical examiner's office stated Monday that autopsies had been done and that some corpses had been released for funeral services, but that queries concerning the cause and manner of death should be sent to the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office.

Faster Horses, which debuted in 2013 and has typically drawn 40,000-plus spectators each day, is also known as the "three-day hillbilly sleepover" since most festival-goers camp at locations in and around the racing track, where cars may reach speeds of 215 to 220 mph.

The event, Michigan's first big music festival since 2019, kicked off on Friday with unplanned "U-S-A" shouts, girlfriends-on-shoulders appearing across the throng, and the occasional elbow-bump welcome.

Because of pandemic limitations, the music festival's future was questionable for months. The event was considered a bellwether as the live entertainment business prepared to reboot after a 15-month lull.
