Barajas, 19, was one of two persons shot at the Regal Edwards Theatre in Corona, California, during a showing of "The Forever Purge."

Police reported Saturday that a prominent TikTok singer died of his injuries days after a guy opened fire inside a Southern California movie theatre during a showing of "The Forever Purge."

Anthony Barajas, 19, was the second person murdered in the incident on Monday. Rylee Goodrich, 18, was the first casualty, according to Corona police.

Authorities said Barajas and Goodrich were attending a 9:35 p.m. showing of the action-horror film at the Regal Edwards Theatre in Corona, approximately 50 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. According to a statement from Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin, workers cleaning up the cinema after the movie ended discovered two victims had been shot in the head.

Barajas was transported to the hospital and placed on life support after Goodrich was pronounced dead. Barajas died early Saturday morning, according to Corona police.

"We extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends," the department said in a statement.

In connection with the incident, Joseph Jimenez, 20, was detained. He was arrested on charges of murder, attempted murder, and robbery earlier this week, but prosecutors filed a special circumstance murder allegation on Friday.

According to Hestrin, Jimenez is eligible for the death sentence if prosecutors chose to seek it at trial because of the exceptional circumstance charge.

Corona police said on Saturday that they are working with Hestrin's office to add another felony of first-degree murder to the case.

Jimenez was ordered detained without bail by a court on Friday. At the request of the defence, his arraignment was postponed until Thursday. The shooting seems to be "random and unprovoked," according to prosecutors.
